FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about how we work, what things cost, and what happens to your documents.
- Do you file my taxes automatically?
- No. Our system handles intake and reads your documents to assemble a draft, but a licensed tax professional reviews every field, approves, and signs off before anything is finalized. Automation speeds the work; it never signs.
- What kinds of returns do you handle?
- Most of our work is personal returns: W-2 wage income, the standard deduction, common 1099s (INT, DIV, NEC), simple credits including EITC, the Child Tax Credit, and education credits (AOTC/Lifetime Learning), filing Single or Married Filing Jointly, single state. We also take on more involved returns; those get a custom quote after a quick look.
- What if my return is more involved?
- You're not out of luck. Our quick qualifier flags it early, then you can request a free consultation: a licensed preparer reviews your forms and lets you know whether your return is within our scope and what your quote would be. Nothing is automatic: a human looks and follows up.
- How is my data protected?
- Your documents are encrypted in transit and at rest, scanned for malware on upload, and every access to your data is recorded in a tamper-evident audit log. We follow FTC Safeguards Rule practices including multi-factor authentication and least-privilege access.
- When do I pay?
- After a licensed preparer has reviewed your documents and accepted your return. You'll get an email with your fee ($250 for a standard return, or your custom quote after a free consultation). Paying is what starts your return, and every payment is backed by our money-back guarantee: if we can't complete and file your return, you get a full refund.
- Do you file my Arizona state return too?
- Yes. Your Arizona Form 140 is prepared and e-filed together with your federal Form 1040, one process, one price. We serve Arizona residents filing a single-state return.
- Do you handle Arizona charitable tax credits?
- Yes. Donations to Qualifying Charitable Organizations (Form 321), public schools (Form 322), and private school tuition organizations (Form 323) are dollar-for-dollar Arizona credits, and your preparer applies them to your Form 140. Bring your donation receipts and we take care of the rest.
